2011 St Anna

St Anna Minnesota 2011

Plenty of snow and temperatures in the 40's made it a perfect day for the 19th Annual Classic Sno-Machines Rally. The event was held in St Anna Mn on Pelican Lake. "The Landing Bar'' was the host and the facility is ideal for holding a snowmobile show. Lots of room in the parking lot for a show field and close proximity to the lake not to mention being right on the well groomed trail. Dave and his crew did a wonderful job keeping the food and refreshments well stocked and the ample stage made for a great indoor display.
Speaking of an indoor display! A big "thank you" goes to Brett Bauer for his awesome display of Chaparral memorabilia and a rare sled. Also inside there was a silent auction with lots of sled related treasures. Also available was Classic Sno-Machine 2011 clothing for sale with artwork from this year's feature sled Chaparral.
We again had a short trail ride around the lake and then down the trail. After a lot of feedback we have decided to change the ride for next year. Stay tuned more to come. See our website www.classicsnomachines.com for details. This year was no different from the past with many really nice sleds in the show challenging for the coveted CSM trophies. The feature class of Chaparral's was very strong as well as the "Rat" class. There were some very creative people. But the big winner and best of show was Brett Bauer with his 73 Chaparral Racer. An awesome restoration of a incredibly rare machine. Nice job Brett!
At the awards the 2012 feature was announced and for our 20th anniversary the feature sled will be....Scorpion. So start looking for the bubble noses and Stings and we will see you in St Anna in 2012

2011 Eagle River Reunion

2011 Eagle River Reunion

The 11th Annual World Championship Vintage Snowmobile Show & Reunion was held on the 16th and 17th of September at the Eagle River Derby Track in Eagle River Wisconsin. The Reunion was somewhat different this year. The weather was excellent. No down pours of rain or sleet! The only problem that you may have had if you attended would be a little sunburn.  Yes, the weather was great this year and everyone was out in it having a great time. Like always the Derby Track put together a well organized Show, Swap, and Drags. For the second year in a row the Derby Track also took a small break in the action to introduce the next ten World Championship Hall of Fame Inductees. This has been a great addition to the show. Everyone really seems to enjoy the stories told by the drivers leading up to the day they became a World Champion.

On the drag track the drivers got into action Friday night under the lights and they were able to use the new and improved clay starting line.  The action started all over on Saturday with a full day of racing. The day ended with a Victory Party Saturday night. The Drag Sled numbers were average for the fall show. The competition was at an all time high. Race after race was decided by only inches.  Big hats off to the North Vintage Snowmobile Race Series for running a very well organized event.

2011 Haydays

2011 Haydays

There were no delays in getting to Haydays this year. Traffic flowed in smoothly, the extra parking areas and gates helped to get people into the event much faster. The weather was beautiful and everyone seemed in great spirits. Sales were brisk in both the swap and dealer areas with lots of activities happening throughout the grounds. We would like to say a special thank you to all the clubs and volunteers who assist us in putting on this event.

Parking was huge and greatly improved this year with more parking lots added .Instead of a single lot there was four big lots that tripled the amount of available parking. These lots provide many more options for visitors depending on what part of the show they were interested in.

Once again, The Memory Lane tent shaded some very nicely restored and some very unique sleds. Visitors from all across the Nation and Canada visited the Memory Lane area throughout the weekend.

The swap was very large and it took a lot of ground pounding to find Vintage sled related parts. For those that put on the miles were rewarded with some very collectible sleds and parts again.

Erskine Marine Show

It was a dark and stormy night........but that didn't keep any of the campers from enjoying each other's company.  They were at Erskine Marine waiting in anticipation for the 8th annual Mid-Michigan Snowmobile Swap & Vintage Show to begin the next morning.  Even though the Hope, MI area had certainly seen more than its fair share of rain in the past few days (almost five inches!) and the forecast was calling for fifty percent chance of thunderstorms, the skies completely cleared Sunday August 7, seemingly for the sole purpose of allowing the swap & show to take place in the comfort of another beautiful summer day.
